Prince Amukamara Biography

Prince Amukamara is the son of Nigerian immigrants and has five sisters named Princess, Peace, Promise, Precious and Passionate.  His mother, Christy, competed in the 1984 Summer Olympics in track and field, and her athletic accomplishments certainly inspired him to do great things as well.  During his days at Apollo High School in Glendale, Arizona he was a standout track and field star and starred on the football team, rushing for 2,106 yards and 24 touchdowns while also recording 95 tackles and two interceptions on defense.  His performance earned him Arizona Big School Player of the Year honors and scholarship offers from some of the biggest schools in the nation.  He ultimately chose to continue his football career and education at the University of Nebraska, where he focused on defense and became the 2010 Big 12 Player of the Year.  During that season he also earned All-American honors and graduated with his degree in sociology.  After the 2011 season the New York Giants selected him in the first round with the 19th overall pick.  Since that time he has been one of the top lock down cornerbacks in the league, recording 197 tackles with six interceptions through the 2014 season.  Outside of football he is a devout Christian, and enjoys speaking to groups about his faith and how it has led to his success at footballs most elite level. He signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016.
