Rosi Mittermaier Biography

Rosi Mittermaier first competed on an international stage at the World Cup in its 1967 debut season. Just two years later, she won her first race just two seasons later. She went on to compete for 10 World Cup seasons, winning 10 events throughout that time including 2 discipline titles and 1 overall title in 1976. Mittermaier went on to compete for 3 Olympic teams as well, with her most successful trip coming again in 1976 where she won 2 gold medals and 1 silver. Competing for West Germany, Gold-Rosi, as she was nicknamed, was the most successful athlete in those Olympic Games. Following her successful year in 1976 that was 2 Olympic Golds and an overall gold at the World Cup season, Rosi stepped away from the sport at the age of 25.
