A former World Series MVP is holding a book signing next week in Oklahoma. Ex-New York Yankees pitcher Ralph Terry will autograph copies of his book, "Right Down the Middle: The Ralph Terry Story".
In the book, Terry tells stories of his successful two-sport career. The event will be held at the J.M. Davis Arms and Historical Museum in Claremore at 5:30 p.m.
Terry was born in Oklahoma and has spent most of his post-sporting life in the southwest. There should certainly be plenty of people in attendance at the signing aware of his sporting exploits.
In the 1962 World Series, Terry went 2-1 with a 1.80 ERA and pitched 25 innings on the way to MVP honors. During the regular season, he won an American League-best 23 wins and was named an All-Star.
Terry took four World Series trips with the Yankees and won two titles. He also pitched for the Kansas City Athletics, Cleveland Indians and New York Mets in his career.
After retiring from baseball in 1967, Terry set his sights on being a professional golfer. He won the 1980 Midwest PGA Championship and competed on the Senior PGA Tour.
