Bill Rogers has plenty of highlights from his career in professional golf. He was able to share some of those fond memories as the keynote speaker at the Waco Links Fellowship Dinner. 

The event was held at Ridgewood Country Club last Friday. Rogers addressed a group of around 50 people that showed up for fellowship through a common bond of golf. 

Rogers was actually born in Waco and talked about his ties to the city. He also shared his Christian testimony and talked about how faith played a pivotal role in his career. 

Rogers crowning achievement was winning the 1981 PGA Tour Player of the Year award. That year, he captured The Open Championship and finished second at the U.S. Open. 

Rogers also had a standout year in 1982, winning the Grand Slam of Golf and finishing in a tie for third at the U.S. Open. He originally joined the PGA Tour in 1975 and collected six career victories on the circuit. 

Rogers retired in 1988 and went on to spend 11 years as the director of golf at San Antonio Country Club. He has also played sporadically on the Champions Tour.
