Herschel Walker is a sports legend in the state of Georgia. He was well-received on Wednesday when he spoke in Columbus at the Up & Motivated seminar.
That event was held by Columbus Public Works. While Walker had an inspirational message to present, he also talked a good deal about football.
He said that his alma mater, the University of Georgia, is certainly in the running to win the national championship this year. He also talked about comparisons between this year's team and the 1980 Bulldogs squad he played on.
Walker was a three-time consensus All-American at running back for UGA. He helped Georgia win the national championship as a freshman and also won the 1982 Heisman Trophy.
Walker was the three-time SEC Player of the Year as well. He played his first three professional seasons in the USFL with the New Jersey Generals before joining the Dallas Cowboys in 1985.
Walker ran for over 8,000 yards in 12 NFL seasons. Walker was a two-time Pro Bowler and member of the College Football Hall of Fame.
