Adidas is anxious to keep up with Nike in the endorsement bidding for this current group of NBA Draft prospects. According to reports, they have landed their first big name who is expected to go in the lottery next week.
Former Cal forward Jaylen Brown has signed an apparel and footwear endorsement deal with Adidas. With the company's longterm agreement as the offiicial outfitter of the NBA ending after this season, they are looking to still stay heavily involved in the basketball world through individual players.
Brown could fit the bill if he pans out to be the star that some are projecting. Expect Adidas to make several other signings in the days leading up to and immediately following next Thursday's draft.
Brown played just one season for the Golden Bears, averaging 14.6 points per game. He was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and also earned a spot on the All-Pac-12 first team.
Withe Brown's help, Cal made it to the NCAA Tournament as a five seed. He arrived at Berkeley as a five-star prospect who was rated as the second best player in the Class of 2015 by Rivals.com.
Brown played his prep ball at Joseph Wheeler High School in Marietta, Georgia. He led the school to a Georgia 6A state title while being named a McDonald's and Parade All-American.
