Those attending the 30th anniversary celebration for digital dentistry company Sirona CEREC are in for quite a treat. The organization quickly switched gears to replace one Hall of Fame athlete as keynote speaker with another.
When basketball legend Magic Johnson had to pull out, Sirona Dental tabbed the NFL’s all-time leading rusher Emmitt Smith to speak. CEREC 30 will be held at The Venetian Hotel and the Palazzo Hotel in Las Vegas from September 17-19.
Smith is a noted speaker, appearing before thousands of audiences following his retirement from football. With Emmitt Smith Enterprises, he has also become a successful businessman, parlaying his gridiron earnings into longterm financial stability.
It is on the field though where Smith really shined. His 18,355 yards stand alone atop the NFL record books and he also holds a league record with 164 rushing touchdowns.
Smith was apart of legendary Dallas Cowboys teams in the 1990s, helping the franchise win three Super Bowls. He was also an eight-time Pro Bowler, four-time first –team All-Pro, and was inducted into the Pro Football in 2010.
Prior to joining the Cowboys as the 17th overall pick in the 1990 NFL Draft, Smith forged a legacy at the University of Florida as well. He was a three-time All-SEC performer and a unanimous All-American as one of the first true Gators stars.
