Puma has a new athlete to headline their efforts to be a leading sports apparel brand in North America. American soccer star Jozy Altidore has signed a new endorsement deal with the brand.
Puma will use Altidore in advertising for their soccer footwear and other soccer products. He was sporting their newest footwear, Future, as his Toronto FC team took the field in the MLS Playoffs.
Altidore agreed to a long-term partnership with Puma, but other terms were not disclosed. He made perfect sense to lead the company's soccer initiatives after being a high-profile name in the sport for some time.
Altidore made his professional debut with the New York Red Bulls when he was 16 years old. He went on to play in some of the top league's in the world, setting an international record for an American player with 23 goals scored for the Dutch club, AZ, in 2012.
Altidore came back to the states in 2015 to join Toronto FC. He is a two-time MLS All-Star and has led the club to back-to-back appearances in the MLS Cup.
Altidore originally joined the United States men's national team in 2017 and has since earned over 100 caps. He is a two-time U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year and has scored 41 goals in international play.
