As the only American men's tennis player ranked in the top 20 in the world, John Isner still carries quite a bit of marketability. Fila scooped Isner up this week, signing him to a multiyear endorsement deal.
Isner is probably the biggest name on Fila's roster that includes several other endorsers from the world of tennis like Jelena Jankovic and Nadia Petrova. The sports apparel brand has long been associated with the sport and also sponsors events like the BNP Paribas Open and the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships.
Isner previously was endorsed by Lacoste and wore Nike shoes on the court. The first Grand Slam he will get to show off his new Fila partnership is The Australian Open, which starts January 18th.
Currently ranked 11th in the world, Isner has been the highest-placed American for four years running. Since turning pro in 2007, he has gone on to win 10 ATP singles titles.
Isner has one of the fastest serves in tennis and ranks 10th in aces in ATP history. He is perhaps best known for winning the longest match in tennis history, an 11-hour five minute marathon against Nicolas Mahut at Wimbledon in 2010.
Over his career, Isner has amassed nearly $9 million in prize money. In addition to his singles success, he has had a distinguished doubles career, winning three times on the ATP Tour and reaching a high mark of 26th in the world.
