A generation ago, Archie Manning captivated the country with the way he played quarterback. As the patriarch of a famous football family and a powerful motivational speaker, he still grips audiences today.
Manning will look to inspire a room of players and members of the public as the keynote speaker at the Dollar General Bowl Mayor's Luncheon. The event takes place on December 21 at the Mobile Convention Center.
Tickets to attend are $30 per individual or $300 for a table. Past speakers have included football luminaries like Steve Spurrier, Joe Theismann and Terry Bradshaw.
Manning dazzled crowds at Ole Miss, where he was a first-team All-American and the SEC Player of the Year in 1969. His #18 jersey is retired by the school and he is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.
Manning was the second overall pick in the 1971 NFL Draft and went on to spend a decade with the New Orleans Saints. He was selected to the Pro Bowl with the Saints in 1978 and 1979.
Manning went on to play for two other franchises before retiring after the 1984 season. He is a member of the Saints Ring of Honor and his sons, Eli and Peyton, have each won two Super Bowls as starting quarterbacks.
