Atlanta Braves Manager Brian Snitker Keynotes Injury Prevention Workshop Saturday

For the way he piloted the Atlanta Braves to a respectable finish in 2016, new manager Brian Snitker is becoming a popular guy around town. On Saturday, he is keynoting a special workshop geared at preventing injuries in youth sports.

Emory Orthopaedics, Sports & Sign is hosting the free Youth Baseball Injury Prevention Workshop from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Emory Johns Creek Hospital in Atlanta. All coaches, parents athletes and trainers are invited to attend.

There will be sports medicine experts on-hand to teach proper stretching techniques and age-specific pitching recommendations. As someone who has coached at many levels of baseball, Snitker will also be a great resource.

After languishing at the bottom of the standings to start 2016, Snitker came in as interim manager and led the Braves to a 59-65 record. He was named the permanent full-time manager at the conclusion of the season.

Most recently, Snitker was manager of Atlanta's Triple-A affiliate, the Gwinnett Braves, for two-plus seasons. He was third base coach for the big league club from 2007-13.

Snitker originally joined the Atlanta organization as a player in 1977. He has managed seven different teams since getting into coaching and won back-to-back championships with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in 1999 and 2000.
