New Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker has fans brimming with optimism that better days are ahead. On Tuesday, he was able to interact with some of that base as a speaker at the Kennesaw Business Association.
The event was held at the Kennesaw State Continuing Education Center. Snitker was able to talk about what turned the Braves around during the 2016 season.
He spoke specifically about one of the Braves' bright young stars, shortstop Darby Swanson. Snitker was also able to address the excitement around moving into the new SunTrust Park in 2017.
After manager Fredi Gonzalez started off the 2016 season in Atlanta 9-28, Snitker was called up from the Triple-A Gwinnett Braves to serve as interim manager. He produced impressive results, going 59-65 the rest of the year.
With a successful turnaround in the books, Snitker was named the permanent manager following the season. It marked the culmination of 41 years spent in the Braves organization.
Snitker started out as a catcher in the minor league system in 1977. He had a 15-year run as a minor league manager across and also has multiple stints as a coach in Atlanta.
