Baltimore Orioles Rookie Hyun-soo Kim Signs Under Armour Endorsement Deal

Hyun-soo Kim has not even played in a Major League Baseball game yet, but he has his first endorsement deal with an American company.  Under Armour has made reached an agreement with the Baltimore Orioles rookie.

The sports apparel brand will provide Kim with cleats, batting gloves, training wear, and shoes. Several notable baseball players are Under Armour athletes, including Clayton Kershaw, Buster Posey, and Bryce Harper.  

Obviously, the hope with all athletes from a different country signed to a brand is that there high-profile representation will open new markets.  A good start to his big league career could mean some additional opportunities for Under Armour in South Korea. 

Kim signed a two-year, $7 million contract with the Orioles this offseason and is expected to play left field for the club.  He is a .318 career hitting over nine seasons in the KBO League. 

Twice Kim led the league in hits while playing for the Doosan Bears.  He won the 2008 batting title and is also a three-time KBO Gold Glove Award recipient.  

Last season, the Bears won the Korean Series championship while Kim hit .326 with a career-high 28 home runs.  He has already been seen by American audiences with international duty for South Korea on the 2008 Olympic gold medal champions and 2009 World Baseball Classic silver medal squad.
