There is no doubt that Baltimore Ravens offensive lineman John Urschel is not your average football player. His alma mater, Penn State, has certainly taken note of his unique gifts.
On May 7th, Urschel will be the commencement speaker for the PSU college of science. The ceremony will be held in the Bryce Jordan Center on campus.
Urschel took to Twitter this week to discuss how much the speaking assignment meant to him. He said, "Of all the honors I've received, this means the most."
Urschel may be prepping for his third NFL season, but it is what he has accomplished off the field that may be more impressive. He graduated from Penn State with a bachelor's and master's degree in mathematics and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in the discipline from MIT.
While at PSU, he was a two-time Academic All-American and three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree. Urschel was also a two-time All-Big Ten first team pick.
Baltimore originally selected him in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Last year, Urschel played in all 16 games and started the last seven for the Ravens.
