Baseball legend Cal Ripken Jr. made a very unique appearance over the holidays. He was at Disney World's Epcot in Orlando, Florida December 28-30 to serve as the celebrity narrator for the biblical Christmas story.
Ripken participated in the readings each day as part of Epcot's International Festival of the Holidays. He was joined by a 50-piece orchestra at the American Gardens Theatre.
Other celebrities that participated in the ritual this past month include Whoopi Goldberg, Pat Sajak and John Stamos. Ripken is the only known star from the sports world to have played a role in the event.
Ripken is known for his dedicated work ethic and record 2,632 consecutive games played streak. He spent all 21 major league seasons with the Baltimore Orioles and was a 19-time All-Star.
Ripken was named American League MVP in 1983 and 1991. That first season, he helped lead the Orioles to their last World Series.
Ripken is a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame and his jersey is retired by Baltimore. He is a successful businessman today and still involved in baseball through his organization, Ripken Baseball Inc.
