Baseball Hall of Famer Lou Brock Speaks at RBI Miami Snowball Classic Next Month

A baseball great is speaking at the seventh annual RBI Miami Snowball Classic next month. St. Louis Cardinals legend Lou Brock is traveling for the event in Oklahoma.

On January 28th, the night's activities begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Calcagno Family Ballroom inside the Carter Student Union at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College. A limited number of tickets that cost $125 are still available.

Proceeds from the event go to RBI Miami, an organization that helps renovate area baseball and softball fields. There will be a live and silent auction, a reception and dinner as part of the festivities.

Brock broke into baseball in 1961 with the Chicago Cubs and was involved in one of the most lopsided trades ever when he was dealt to the Cardinals in 1964. That first season, he hit .348 and helped St. Louis win the World Series.

Overall, Brock collected 3,023 hits and stole 938 bases in his Hall of Fame career. In 1974, he set a new Major League Baseball record with 118 stolen bases in a season and finished runner-up for the National League Most Valuable Player Award.

Brock was a six-time All-Star and led the NL in steals on eight occasions. In addition to being enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame, he is a member of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame and St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame.
