The Boys & Girls Club of Pikes Peak Region are having a special guest from the world of sports at their Youth of the Year Dinner and Celebration. Boxing icon Evander Holyfield is slated to speak at the event in Colorado on February 24th.
It will be held beginning at 6 p.m. at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. There are several sponsorship opportunities currently available.
Holyfield has a special connection to the Boys & Girls Club because he took boxing lessons at his local Atlanta outpost growing up. In addition to his presentation, there will be an auction at the banquet.
Holyfield is the only four-time world heavyweight champion in the sport's history. In 1984, he announced his presence to the boxing world by winning a bronze medal for the U.S. at the Olympics.
On his way to dominating the heavyweight division, Holyfield also won world titles at cruiserweight. During his career, he defeated legendary boxers like George Foreman, Larry Holmes and Mike Tyson.
Overall, Holyfield has a career record of 44-10-2. At the age of 49, he won the final fight of his career over Brian Nielsen in 2011.
