Fantasy sports seem bigger than ever. That made it the perfect climate to launch the first-ever Fantasy Sports Combine in Las Vegas at Wynn and Encore last weekend.
Several notables from the football world highlighted the two-day event. Broncos’ greats Mike Shanahan and Terrell Davis stole the show in particular.
Shanahan led an interactive film breakdown and Davis held court during lunch. Several former players like Daunte Culpepper, Matt Leinart, and Kyle Orton also participated in the weekend.
Fans additionally got great tips for the 2015 season from ESPN personalities Adam Schefter and Matthew Berry. With the success of the first event, a second Fantasy Sports Combine has been green lit for July 22-23, 2016.
Shanahan was a two-time Super Bowl winning head coach in Denver. He spent 14 seasons with the Broncos, compiling a 138-86 record, and making seven trips to the playoffs.
After his time in Denver, Shanahan went on to pilot the Washington Redskins for four seasons and led them to the postseason once. While content in semi-retirement, he remains open to a return to the sidelines one day.
Davis was a revelation at running back for Shanahan during both Super Bowl runs. In the duo’s first championship appearance, he ran for 157 yard and scored three touchdowns on the way to MVP honors.
With 7,607 career rushing yards, he is Denver’s all-time leading rusher. The two-time NFL Offensive Player of the Year led the AFC in rushing three straight seasons.
