There have been many iconic moments in the history of the ESPY Awards. One of those instances occurred last night as Caitlyn Jenner stood on stage accepting the Arthur Ashe Courage Award.
Jenner made her first public appearance since coming out transgender earlier this year. Her speech touched on many issues affecting the trans community as well as what her own personal journey has been like.
Up next for Jenner is the E! documentary series “I Am Cait” that premieres July 26th. It will chronicle her entire transition process and hopefully shed even further light on the transgender community.
Jenner has been in the spotlight for years following her gold medal triumph in the decathlon at the 1976 Olympics. In a Games that was sparsely populated with American wins, hers stood out and led to a successful post-athletic career.
From the late 1970s and into the 1980s, Jenner had a successful career as a television guest star and product endorser. The Keeping up with the Kardashians reality show franchise also reignited her fame in 2007.
