Former Chicago Bears Quarterback Jim McMahon to Speak at Hospital Opening

Former Chicago Bears quarterback Jim McMahon has experienced the highest highs and the lowest lows throughout his life. That has given him a great perspective to speak from.

McMahon is set to share stories about his bouts with depression at a hospital opening next month. He is the featured speaker at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Silver Oaks Behavioral Hospital in New Lenox, Illinois.

The grand opening takes place on December 13 from 12-2 p.m. Silver Oaks is a 100-bed cutting-edge hospital offering behavioral services for all ages.

McMahon was a two-time All-American at BYU before being drafted by the Bears with the fifth overall pick in 1982. In 1985, he led Chicago to a 15-1 regular season record and a win in Super Bowl XX.

After spending the first seven seasons of his career with the Bears, he played another eight years with five different franchises. McMahon had a final high watermark of his career when he returned to a starting role with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1991 and won the Pro Football Weekly NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award.

McMahon also won a final Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers in 1996. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1998.
