Chicago Cubs World Series Hero David Ross Speaks at USF Brown & Gold Night

Chicago Cubs World Series hero David Ross is still living in the afterglow of a storybook career ending. He will get to share some of what his ride to the top was like as a speaker at the University of St. Francis Brown & Gold Night.

Each year, USF hosts the event to raise money for the school's various athletic programs. This year, the festivities take place on January 12th at the Sullivan Center.

After posting the information about Ross' appearance, tickets for the evening sold out in five hours. Cubs nation in the Joliet, Illinois area will certainly be out in force to hear some of his thoughts.

Since joining the Cubs in 2014, Ross was looked to as a mentor for the young team. There is no denying that 2016 was the highlight campaign of his 15 seasons in Major League Baseball.

In April, Ross caught the first no-hitter of his career when Jake Arrieta beat the Cincinnati Reds. Then, he became the oldest player in the history of a World Series Game 7 to hit a home run.

Ross won a World Series with the Boston Red Sox in 2013 in addition to the triumph with Chicago. The Los Angeles Dodgers originally selected him in the seventh round of the 1998 MLB Draft and he made his big league debut with the club in 2002.
