College Football Hall of Famer Bob Crable Speaks at NFF Banquet February 22nd

College Football Hall of Famer Bob Crable is set to speak at an event in his backyard this week. The Cincinnati native will be presenting in Mason at the National Football Foundation's "That's My Boy" Award banquet.

The 51st annual event will be held at 7 p.m. on February 22nd at the Manor House's Georgian Ballroom. Winners are chosen based on their football accomplishments, academic achievement and extracurricular involvement.

In addition to student-athletes being honored, Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown will receive the Distinguished American Award. Crable should have some interesting stories from his playing career.

Crable is one of the best defensive players in Notre Dame history. He holds the program records for career and single-season tackles.

Crable was a two-time captain and a two-time first-team All-American. In 1979, he set an NCAA single-game record with 26 tackles in a game against Clemson.

The New York Jets went on to select Crable in the first round of the 1982 NFL Draft. He was a linebacker for six seasons with the team and has been a coach, teacher and businessman in retirement.
