Next month, Dallas Cowboys COO Stephen Jones will help pay tribute to a very special group of students. He will be the keynote speaker at El Dorado High School's Academic Signing Day on May 13th.
The event recognizes recipients of the El Dorado Promise scholarship program. It will take place at 1:30 p.m. at the school's Wildcat Arena.
Around 300 students will formally receive scholarships at the ceremony. Over the past nine years, the $50 million El Dorado Promise scholarship program has benefited 1,797 graduates from the high school.
Jones has been a top executive for the Cowboys since his father Jerry purchased the team in 1989. In addition to his role as COO, he is currently an Executive Vice President, Player Personnel Director and the President of AT&T Stadium.
Jones oversees the franchise's 400 person staff and is the point man for stadium operations. With his stewarship over the Dallas salary cap and roster, the team has had a winning record in seven of the last 11 seasons.
In addition to his duties with the Cowboys, Jones serves on the NFL's Competition Committee. He is also on the Board of Directors for Cotton Bowl Athletic Association, the Dallas Citizens Council and the Baylor Health Care System Foundation.
