Dallas Cowboys Icon Ed “Too Tall” Jones Keynotes Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame Thursday

This Thursday, the Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame inducts a new class. Dallas Cowboys icon Ed "Too Tall" Jones will serve as keynote speaker.

Jones will be the third former inductee to speak at the event. It takes place at the Carl Perkins Civic Center in Jackson, Tennessee.

The origins of Jones' football career took place in the state, first at Merry High and then at Tennessee State. There will be five inductees in the Class of 2017.

After selecting him first overall in the 1974 NFL Draft, Jones played his entire 15-year career with the Cowboys. He was a dangerous pass rusher who went to three Pro Bowls and was a three-time All-Pro.

In 1977, Jones helped Dallas win Super Bowl XII. He is unofficially credited with 106 sacks which rank third in team history and 1,032 tackles which rank fifth.

During the height of his football career, Jones briefly left the game to take up boxing and he went 6-0 in the ring. Today, he remains active in Dallas as the owner of a real estate company and an event coordination company.
