Despite training camp rapidly approaching, Dallas Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith made it a point to attend a special event in his hometown of Fort Wayne, Indiana this weekend. Smith was the keynote speaker at the Kings Feast event.
Festivities took place at Parkview Micro Event Center. The day was set-up to provide African American men with workshops about leadership, legacy and purpose.
There were several professionals from a variety of careers on-hand to give advice. Smith was happy to have the opportunity to make a positive impact on young people in the same place where he grew up.
The Cowboys selected Smith in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He missed all of his rookie campaign while he rehabbed from a torn ACL and LCL.
Smith was a standout at Notre Dame, where he was a consensus All-American in 2015. He collected 115 tackles during his junior season and won the Butkus Award as the nation's top linebacker.
Smith also recorded over 100 tackles as a sophomore and was named a second-team All-American. He was a two-time first-team All-Independent as well.
