Dallas Cowboys Second Round Pick Jaylon Smith Signs Endorsement Deal with New Era

During NFL Draft week, several coroporations snatched up athletes to various endorsement deals.  One of the more interesting moves of the week came from New Era.

The hat company agreed to a deal with Jaylon Smith prior to the draft despite the likelihood that he may not even play in 2016.  They did receive at least partial validation when Smith was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round on Friday night.

New Era esstentially liked the comeback story that Smith has to tell.  They signed him to a one-year deal that will have him star in brand campaigns for the company.

In his final college game at Notre Dame, Smith tore both his ACL and LCL in the Fiesta Bowl.  Despite the significant injury, there was no doubt that he had already established himself as one of the most talented players in college football.

Smith recorded 115 tackles in 13 games as a junior for the Fighting Irish.  He won the Butkus Award as the nation's top linebacker and was voted a consensus All-American.

That final banner campaign capped an impressive three-year run as a starter at Notre Dame.  Before arriving in South Bend, he was Indiana's Mr. Football in 2012 and rated a five-star prospect by both Rivals and Scout.
