For Masters week this month, AT&T whipped up something special featuring one of golf's biggest stars and his fellow Dallas-area sports celebrity. Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo joins top-ranked golfer Jordan Spieth in a colorful ad.
In the spot titled "Caddie", Spieth's team that helps him succeed is prominently featured. That includes Romo, a longtime supporter and avid golfer himself.
Additionally, Spieth's caddie, swing coach and parents appear in the commercial. The timing of the release made sense given that AT&T has sponsored the golfer since 2014 and they have been one of the Masters three presenting sponsors since 2005.
After being an undrafted pickup for the Cowboys in 2003, Romo has defied all expectations. He is a four-time Pro Bowler who holds franchise records for career passing yards and touchdowns.
Just two seasons ago, Romo led the NFL in completion percentage and passer rating. He currently holds the league record for highest QB rating in the fourth quarter.
Spieth finished tied for second at the 2016 Masters. In 2015, he captured his first green jacket and was also victorious at the U.S. Open.
With a win at the end of 2015 at the Tour Championship, Spieth cemented his status as FedEx Cup champion. He was also the leading money winner on the PGA Tour and won Player of the Year.
