On Saturday, Detroit Lions running back Ameer Abdullah will host a youth camp in his college town. The Lincoln, Nebraska-based camp takes place at Lincoln High School from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Kids ages 7-14 are welcome to attend the camp that focuses on drills and techniques. There will also be an autograph signing with Abdullah to close to the camp.
Registration to attend is $100 and a portion of the proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln. Later on in the summer, Abdullah will also hold a camp in Omaah.
Abdullah is enterting his third NFL season after being a second round pick of the Lions in 2015. As a rookie, he led the NFL in kickoff return yards.
Abdullah began the 2016 season as the starting running back in Detroit before suffering a season-ending injury. Many are hoping he regains the form he flashed as a three-year starter at Nebraska.
Abdullah ran for over 1,000 yards three times in college and was a two-time All-Big Ten performer. As a senior, he rushed for 1,611 yards and 19 touchdowns.
