Detroit Pistons star Andre Drummond took some time out of his schedule last week to give back to his hometown of Middletown, Connecticut. He held an autograph signing on Friday at the Middlesex YMCA.
Drummond also posed for photos and gave out backpacks with school supplies to 300 kids. He annually gives donations to the Y and has the program Andre's Allstars.
Drummond also participated in the Osgood Shootout at New Britain High. In addition to his work with the Y, he is also a global ambassador for the Special Olympics.
During his first five seasons in the league, Drummond has established himself as one of the best big men in basketball. He has averaged 13.3 points and 12.8 rebounds per game over his career.
In 2016, Drummond led the NBA with 14.8 rebounders per game. That season, he was also named an All-Star and was an All-NBA Third Team member.
The Pistons originally selected Drummond with the ninth overall pick of the 2012 NBA Draft. He has also represented the United States in international competition.
