Drew Brees Named Keynote Speaker at MS Preps Banquet

The New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has been named the keynote speaker for The Clarion-Ledger’s Best of MS Preps banquet to be held at the Jackson Convention Complex on May 28 in Jackson, Mississippi. There will be a dinner starting about 6:30 p.m. and that is also when Brees will be talking to the audience. The event focuses on honoring this year’s best athletes in the state of MS from all 82 counties, and 22 of the boys and girls who are nominated will be recognized. For each sport the Player of the Year will be announced as well as their coaches for providing such a thriving program in Mississippi high school athletics. There will also be several honorable mentions who have been invited to the banquet as well. Anyone can attend this event and tickets cost $50 per person.

The Super Bowl XLIV champion has been playing for the NFL for almost 14 years now, doing 4 years with the San Diego Chargers before moving to the New Orleans Saints in 2006. Brees has accumulated many achievements and awards of the years claiming titles such as the 2006 Super Bowl MVP, two NFC MVP recognition awards, four-times Saints Offensive Player of the Year and 9 selections to Pro Bowl games. The Texas native went to Purdue University and made a name for him through their athletic program as well.

Brees will be attending and speaking to this year’s winners for being named the best high school athletes in Mississippi, which will without doubt be inspiring to all those who attend.
