Former American baseball player and manager Dusty Baker has been selected to speak on February 27 at the Chico American Legion Baseball 18th Spring Fever dinner and annual fundraiser.
The two-time All-Star player and 1981 World Series champion was drafted to the Atlanta Braves in 1967 straight out of his high school in Sacramento, California. He started out his career was an outfielder with the Braves and later went on to play with the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, and Oakland Raiders. After he retired from playing the sport he became a team manager for the San Francisco Giants, Chicago Cubs and the Cincinnati Reds until 2013.
The three-time NL Manager of the Year was also a member of the United States Marine Corps Reserve from 1969 until 1975, and is currently a part of the National Advisory Board for Positive Coaching Alliance. He will be speaking at the Chico American Legion Baseball Spring Fever dinner later on this month and everyone who attends will be able to get an autograph and meet Baker. The tickets cost $45 for adults and $30 for kids, and there will also be a door prize and a few raffles going on. Table space is going to be limited, so anyone who has an interest in attending should make reservations as soon as possible.
