ESPN's Mike Golic is lauded as one of the good guys in sports and he is revered for his accomplishments in the broadcasting world. Golic was recognized for his charitable efforts with the Walter Camp Man of the Year Award.
He joined other luminaries from college football earlier this month on the campus of Yale University at the Lanman Center's Whitney Gymnasium in New Haven, Connecticut for the Walter Camp Awards. Golic serves as a board member for Hannah & Friends, actively fundraises for The V Foundation and is a support of the Northern Indiana Food Bank and Center for Homeless.
At the dinner, Alabama coach Nick Saban received Coach of the Year, former Pitt receiver Larry Fitzgerald won the Alumni Award and legendary quarterback Archie Manning was recognized with the Distinguished American Award. All proceeds benefited the Walter Camp All-American Youth Clinic.
Golic is best-known for co-hosting the ESPN Radio show, Mike & Mike, for 18 years. He is inducted along with his longtime co-host, Mike Greenberg, in the National Association of Broadcasters Broadcasting Hall of Fame.
Golic currently still hosts the ESPN Radio program, Golic & Wingo. He originally joined the network as an NFL studio analyst in 1995 and has been a commentator on games as well.
Golic had a nine-year NFL career as a defensive tackle for the Houston Oilers, Philadelphia Eagles and Miami Dolphins. He was captain of the football team in college at the University of Notre Dame.
