Figure Skating Great Dorothy Hamill Speaks at Women’s Health Conference Next Month

When she became an Olympic champion, figure skater Dorothy Hamill vaulted herself into status as an American symbol. On January 26th, she will speak at "A Women's Journey" health conference. 

The 10th annual event takes place in West Palm Beach, Florida at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. Advances in breast cancer treatment and various women's health issues will be discussed. 

Hamill will talk about her own medical obstacles, including dealing with depression. The conference costs $150 for individual tickets and $2,500 for a table of ten. 

In 1976, Hamill won the ladies' singles title at the Olympics and World Championships. She also took the silver medal in the event at the 1974 and 1975 World Championships. 

Hamill first broke through in the skating world in 1969, winning the novice ladies' titles at the U.S. Championships. She went on to win three straight senior U.S. titles. 

Hamill has been a popular ambassador for the sport ever since and was the Ice Capades headliner from 1977-84. She is a member of the United States Figure Skating Hall of Fame and the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame.
