First Female Professional Baseball Coach Justine Siegal Keynotes MiLB FIELD Program

Minor League Baseball is getting set to host their second FIELD Program. The Fostering Inclusion through Education and Leadership Development Program is an element of MiLB's Diversity Initiative.

The first female to coach for a major league organization, Justine Siegal, will be the keynote speaker. The event takes place August 7-11 at the MiLB office in St. Petersburg, Florida.

There are 27 recent graduates and current students who will participate. They will take part in a slew of various activities that give them exposure to a career in baseball.

Siegal made history in 2015 when she was hired as a guest instructor for the Oakland Athletics. She is the founder of Baseball for All, a non-profit that encourages girls to play baseball.

Siegal got her start coaching youth baseball and was an assistant coach at Springfield College from 2008-10. She went on to serve as the first base coach for the independent Brockton Rox.

Before her post with the A's, Siegal threw batting practice to the Cleveland Indians at Spring Training in 2011. She was a mental skills coach for Team Israel at the 2017 World Baseball Classic.
