Two football stars are back in the spotlight with a new national advertising spot for Wendy’s. One of the NFL’s all-time great wide receivers, Terrell Owens, and former national championship quarterback Vince Young are teaming up to promote the new Gouda Bacon Cheeseburger and Bacon Fondue Fries.
Each Wendy’s item is being offered for a limited time. The ad features both players in a dramatic football setting while promoting their Cheese Finally Has Its Day campaign.
The spots debuted on November 30th. Owens also stars in several online videos in an audition-tape style setting.
Owens is up for selection for the Pro Football Hall of Fame for the first time in 2016. With his 15,934 receiving yards ranking second in NFL history he has a very good chance of getting inducted.
In addition to his lofty yardage total, Owens 153 receiving touchdowns rank third all-time. The six-time Pro Bowler was also a five-time first-team All-Pro.
Young had a banner campaign as a junior at Texas in 2005, winning the Davey O’Brien Award, Maxwell Award, and the BCS national title. For his efforts, the Longhorns retired his jersey in 2008.
Young went on to have a productive six-year career in the NFL. After being the third pick of the 2003 NFL Draft, he made two Pro Bowl squads as a member of the Tennessee Titans.
