Football Player Nate Boyer Speaks at Patriot Day Celebration in Utah

Nate Boyer had one of the more unique roads to football success.  On Friday, the former Green Beret spoke a little about that at a Patriots Day celebration hosted by The Southern Utah Veterans Home.

The auditorium was packed with veterans and their families to hear Boyer speak.  He spent a lot of time addressing the various sacrificies U.S. military personnel have made over the years to protect freedom.

While in town, Boyer also spoke on Saturday at Snow Canyon High School.  The community certainly was impacted in a positive way by his appearances.

After high school, Boyer went to Hollywood to pursue acting instead of looking to play football.  In 2004, he went to Sudan as a relief worker and enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly after.

Boyer became a Green Beret and had several tours of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq.  After six years, he was honorably discharged.

Boyer decided to pursue football, walking on at the University of Texas and playing 38 straight games at long snapper.  He even got an NFL opportunity, joining the Seattle Seahawks for traninig camp in 2015.
