The Lawrence County Penn State Alumni Chapter Spring Banquet features one of the football program's all-time greats as speaker. Retired NFL All-Pro Mike Munchak is attending the event on May 10th.
It will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the New Englander Banquet Center and Munchak will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Individual tickets are available for $30 at several different area locations.
Proceeds raised benefit the Lawrence County Penn State Alumni Scholarship Fund. Attendees are encouraged to dress casually or come wearing their Penn State gear.
Munchak was a ten-time All-Pro and nine-time Pro Bowler in his 12-year career with the Houston Oilers. The franchise originally selected him in the first round of the 1982 NFL Draft after he had an All-American career on the offensive line for the Nittany Lions.
After retiring in 1993, Munchak joined the Oilers coaching staff, staying with the franchise as they moved to Tennessee. He was the offensive line coach until 2010 when he was promoted to head coach.
Munchak is now the offensive line coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a player in 2001.
