Tim Hardaway made his rise to NBA stardom with the Golden State Warriors. This weekend, he returned to the Bay Area for an autograph signing in San Jose.
The appearance took place on Saturday as part of the opening weekend festivities for a new Dick's Sporting Goods store on Blossom Hill Road. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Hardaway signed autographs for store patrons.
There was no purchase necessary, but those interested in getting a spot in the signing line had to arrive as early as 8 a.m. to receive a wristband. With basketball mania at a fever pitch due to the Warriors impending NBA Finals appearance, there was quite an excited crowd on hand.
Golden State originally selected Hardaway in the first round out of UTEP in the 1989 NBA Draft. He played the first six seasons of his career with the franchise and was named to three consecutive All-Star teams from 1991-93.
Hardaway was traded to the Miami Heat in 1996 and became the pillar of a team who would make six straight trips to the playoffs. He made two more All-Star teams and was selected to three of his five All-NBA teams while a member of the Heat.
Hardaway's #10 jersey is retired by Miami and UTEP. He has been an assistant coach with the Detroit Pistons since 2014.
