Former Baseball Manager Bobby Valentine Speaks at Retired Men’s Association of Greenwich

One of the most colorful managers in baseball history recently spoke at the Retired Men's Association of Greenwich in Connecticut. Bobby Valentine entertained the audience that was gathered at First Presbyterian on November 16th.

Valentine has a great background in the state as a native of Stamford. He was certainly well-received by many in the audience who still remember him as a star prep athlete. 

Throughout his presentation, Valentine woved the theme of luck. He shared personal success stories and how luck always played a factor in him being able to achieve his goals. 

Valentine had a 10-year major league playing career, but he is best remembered for his time as a manager. From 1985-1992, he got his first top job managing the Texas Rangers. 

Valentine had most of his managerial success with the New York Mets. He led the club from 1996-2002 and took them to the World Series in 2000. 

Valentine also had success oversees, winning the Japan Series and Asia Series with the Chiba Lotte Marines in 2005. He has been a popular baseball analyst on television in the past and currently serves as the athletic director at Sacred Heart University.
