This past Friday, former Baylor football coach Art Briles was a speaker at the Birmingham Football Coaching Clinic. The event was hosted by UAB head coach Bill Clark and his staff.
The title of Briles presentation was, "Making Concepts Into Themes." He did speak about wanting to return to coaching for another decade.
Briles pointed some of his advice towards younger coaches. As someone who rose up from the high school ranks to become one of college football's great offensive innovators, his talk certainly carried a lot of weight.
Briles took the Bears football program to new heights while serving as head coach from 2008-15. He guided the team to back-to-back Big 12 Conference titles from 2013-14.
Four of Briles' Baylor teams won at least ten games and finished ranked in the top 15. They made trips to a school-record five straight bowl games.
Prior to coming to Waco, Briles was the head coach at the University of Houston for five seasons. After a 20-year coaching career on the high school level, he got his first college position coaching running backs at Texas Tech from 2000-02.
