While Jay Williams NBA career in Chicago fizzled out, he is still a popular figure in the Windy City. Williams is making several appearances in the area next month to promote his new book.
On February 3rd, Williams will be signing copies of "Life is Not an Accident" at Anderson's Bookshop in Naperville at 7 p.m.. Priority numbers are already available at the store with purchase of the new book, which is set to be officially released next week.
Williams will also headline a luncheon earlier in the day at Chicago's Standard Club. Tickets for that event, which begins at 11:30 a.m., are $40.
After being the second overall pick in the 2002 NBA Draft with the Bulls, Williams pro career ended following a mortocycle crash after his rookie season. His memoir deals with the challenging journey he faced to find a new purpose in life after his failed comeback attempt.
Williams is considered one of college basketball's all-time greats. The two-time Consensus All-American is the sixth-leading scorer in Duke University history.
During his sophomore year, Williams broke the school's single-season points record and led the Blue Devils to the NCAA Championship. Now, he follows Duke and all of the college basketball world as an analyst for ESPN.
