Former College Football Coach Tommy Bowden Keynotes Salvation Army Houston Luncheon

Bowden was a late replacement for his father Bobby who was undergoing a medical procedure. He discussed the good work the Salvation Army does in keeping needy families intact.

The luncheon also paid tribute to former president George H.W. Bush and his wife Barbara Bush. There were over 420 guests in attendance and the event raise over $463,000 for Salvation Army programs.

Bowden is best known for his tenure as the head coach at Clemson University from 1999-2008. He never had a losing season with the Tigers and was 72-45 overall.

Under Bowden's watch, Clemson finished the season in the top 25 four times. He was a two-time Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the Year.

Bowden began his head coaching career with Tulane in 1997 and guided them to a perfect 11-0 record in 1998. He was a longtime assistant coach who served multiple stints on his father's coaching staff at Florida State.
