Former Football Coach Tom Osborne Keynotes Nebraska Black Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Next Month

Next month, the Nebraska Black Sports Hall of Fame will induct a new class. Arguably the greatest sports legend the state has ever seen will serve as keynote speaker.

Former Nebraska football coach Tom Osborne is the man slated to speak at the August 3rd ceremony. It will be held at 6 p.m. at the DC Centre in Omaha.

There will be 15 different people getting into the hall of fame this year. Tickets are $40 for single attendees and $320 for a table of eight.

Osborne was the head coach of the Huskers for 25 years and compiled a 255-49-3 record. He led NU to 13 conference championships and the program won three national titles in the 1990s under his watch.

Osborne was the Big 8 Coach of the Year seven times and was named Big 12 Coach of the Year in 1996. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1999.

Osborne went on to be an influential state leader, serving three terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. From 2007-13, he returned to Lincoln to serve as Nebraska's athletic director.
