Buck Martinez is essentially a baseball icon in Canada. He has been announced as the featured speaker at the Okotoks Dawgs fundraising dinner and auction. 

The event will be held in January 28th at the Okotoks Centennial Centre. It will help the collegiate summer league team as they prepare for their 2017 season. 

They will also honor those who have won their annual players awards.  Tickets are $125 for individuals and $800 for a table of eight. 

Martinez has done it all in baseball. He had a 17-year playing career and was known as a solid defensive catcher throughout. 

Following his retirement, Martinez became known as a top broadcaster.  He joined the Toronto Blue Jays radio team and eventually was an analyst on their television broadcasts. 

Martinez also managed the Blue Jays for parts of two seasons and Team USA at the first World Baseball Classic. He is back in the Toronto booth today as the primary play-by-play voice.
