Former Major League Outfielder Eric Byrnes Speaks at Taft College

Eric Byrnes was one of baseball's most colorful players in recent memory. Later this month, he will bring his entertaining personality to Taft College.

Byrnes is speaking at their fourth annual Triple Play Dinner and Auction. The event runs 6-9 p.m. on January 27th at The Historic Fort in Taft, California.

Individual tickets are $60 while table sponsorships can be purchased for $500. Byrnes should have plenty of stories from a standout career in athletics that the audience will enjoy.

Byrnes spent 11 seasons in the big leagues with five different franchises. He is best remembered for his gritty play and the reckless ambandon he patrolled the outfield with.

The California native played college baseball at UCLA and set a Pac-12 record with 75 career doubles. The Oakland Athletics selected him in the eighth round of the 1998 MLB Draft and he made his major league debut in 2000.

Byrnes had his best season with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2007, batting .286 with 21 home runs, 83 RBI and 50 stolen bases. In retirement, he has become a popular broadcaster and is an avid endurance runner.
