Former Major League Pitcher Jeff Brantley Speaks at MSU Opening Night Banquet Saturday

One of Mississippi State's most prominent baseball alumni is returning to Starkville this weekend. Former major league pitcher Jeff Brantley is speaking at the MSU Opening Night Banquet. 

The event takes place tomorrow at 6 p.m. at The Mill Conference Center following the Auburn-Mississippi State men's basketball game. The festivities begin with a Diamond Dawg VIP hour.

Tickets are currently still available online or through the MSU Baseball Dugout Club. They are $100 to attend the VIP hour and dinner and just $65 for the dinner only. 

Brantley was a member of the Bulldogs 1985 College World Series team. He shares the Southeastern Conference career record with 45 wins. 

Brantley went on to a 14-year big league career and became one of the game's top relievers. He was named a National League All-Star in 1990 and posted a career-best 1.56 ERA. 

Brantley led the league with 44 saves in 1996 and won the NL Rolaids Relief Man Award. He was one of ESPN's top baseball analysts from 2002-06 and has is currently a commentator for the Cincinnati Reds.
