Last Friday, New York Knicks fans residing in Upstate New York got a great treat. Former Knicks co-captain Larry Johnson made an appearance in the area prior to Game 4 of the NBA Finals.
Johnson signed autographs for fans at Saratoga Stadium in Saratoga Springs. He was slated to stay for a few hours before the game, but ended up conversing with fans and signing throughout the evening.
Saratoga Stadium was formerly known as Stadium Cafe. It reopened after renovations in April with a party headlined by another former Knicks star, John Starks.
After playing the first five years of his career with the Charlotte Hornets, Johnson spent five seasons in New York. His four-point play that won Game 3 of the 1999 Eastern Conference Finals over the Indiana Pacers is one of the most iconic moments in franchise history.
Prior to being traded to the Knicks, Johnson cemented his place in the league with the Hornets. He was the 1992 Rookie of the Year, a two-time All-Star, and a member of the All-NBA squad in 1993.
Johnson also had a storied college career, winning a national title and earning two consensus first-team All-American selections at UNLV. He still currently works with New York as a Basketball and Business Operations Representative.
