Former NFL coach and player Sam Wyche gave a stunning speech at the ScanSource Conference for POS and Barcoding in Greenville, South Carolina at the ballroom of the Hyatt Regency during March 16-18. The Georgia native spoke to over 200 channel executives about leadership and what it takes to take companies to the next level, and he emphasized that certain qualities like persistence and flexibility are two of the most important components of being successful and growing. Another point that Wyche made during his speech was that people who are true champions always learn from their mistakes and never make the same error twice in the exact same way.
Before he became a coach, Wyche was a quarterback for Furman College from 1963 to 1965, and after he graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in Business he went on to play for the NFL for 10 years with the Wheeling Ironmen, Cincinnati Bengals, Washington Redskins and the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1979 he transitioned into coaching professional football for teams such as the San Francisco 49ers, Cincinnati Bengals, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In addition to that, Wyche spends his free time playing tennis, golfing, and flying private planes as he has had a license for years.
