Former NFL head coach George Seifert is still a respected name in the sport. He is especially revered in northern California, where he coached with the San Francisco 49ers for a number of years.
On May 14th, Seifert will hope to bring a big crowd of that Niners fan base to a fundraiser for Santa Rosa Junior College's football program. He will speak at a dinner while also holding a special meet and greet.
Tickets for the dinner are $75 while people can attend the meet and greet for $125. Other ex-49ers coaches like Bill Walsh and Jim Harbaugh have previously spoken at the fundraiser.
Seifert originally joined the 49ers staff under Walsh in 1980 and would coach on the defensive side of the ball for most of the decade before being named head coach in 1989. In his eight seasons leading San Francisco, he never won less than ten games in a season.
Seifert's teams were victorious in two Super Bowls and they won six NFC West titles. With 98 49ers wins, he holds the all-time franchise record for a coach.
Additionally, Seifert also coached the Carolina Panthers from 1999-2001. He finished his career with a total record of 124-67.
