Former NFL Player Chris Draft Keynotes Vidant Health Lung Cancer Awareness Dinner

Inside and outside the NFL, Chris Draft has been somone who has leant a helping hand.  When his wife died of lung cancer in 2011, that became another cause near and dear to his heart. 

Last night, Draft was the keynote speaker at the Vidant Lung Cancer Awareness Dinner.  The 10th annual event was put on by Vidant Health in Greenville, North Carolina. 

The dinner was put on from 6-8 p.m. and it was free to attend.  Draft was able to share his story and talk about how he still honors his wife's legacy. 

Draft had a 12-year NFL career.  He spent nearly half of it with the Atlanta Falcons and recorded a career-high 124 tackles with the franchise in 2003. 

The Chicago Bears originally drafted Draft in the sixth round of the 1998 NFL Draft.  He was a three-year starter in college and a two-time second-team All-Pac 10 pick at Stanford. 

During his career, Draft was the 2002 Ed Block Courage Award winner and a two-time finalist for the Whizzer White Award.  He still impacts society through his foundation that was initially established in 2006.
